Love Local – Aerial Yoga

I recently tried out the aerial yoga class at House of Calm in Sunningdale, and it was the most fun and challenging class ever! Zelda was such a great teacher that I went again. I then decided to shoot some of the Puma En Pointe range doing aerial yoga as well, as it is such a strong and beautifully feminine yoga technique. Thanks to Zelda for pushing me to get into positions I didn’t even think I could do!

Let’s get to know Zelda:

Tell us a bit about your background in Durban?
I moved to Durban about 18 months ago – so quite new to this part of the world but loving it.
I had a Pilates studio for 10 years in Pretoria and a MFR Myofascial Release practice for 6.

When did you start your business?
I started teaching Yin yoga at Gurucat Hot Yoga studio in 2016, and I had a MFR treatment room in the yoga studio. My MFR practice is now in House of Calm – Umhlanga Rocks where I also teach Yin Yoga, Air Yoga and basic Vinyasa Yoga.

Tell us about your business
My passion is FASCIA – basically fascinated by fascia, and yoga. MFR therapy (relating to fascia) helps a person regain function and flexibility after injuries and treat chronic pain in many parts of the body.

What is your favourite thing about your business?
Working with people and treating each person as an individual. To be able to see the changes in each and everyone daily. I love teaching Air Yoga where people can challenge themselves, still feel safe and get stronger every time. The hammock can assist or challenge you – a fun and hard work out.

What would you like people to know about your business?
Each and everyone has the ability to heal themselves if they have the right tools. I assist people to get their power back.

What do you love about living and working in Durban?
I love the more “relaxed “ laid back attitude of the people here, the weather and all the different types of yoga I can choose from. And quite obviously I just LOVE the ocean.

How can people support you?
By believing that pain is not the end of the world – it is only a signal that something is wrong. Stick to the natural and holistic way to treat your body. Join my classes or book a session and I will help you on your journey.

Where can they stalk you on social media?

You’d actually be surprised how safe you feel! That material is so strong and you learn to trust it 🙂 I’ve only gone twice but I am so keen to go again soon!
