I met Kathryn at the Mr Price Sport Blog Olympics last year (Thank you Mr P!) and she is LOVELY! So sweet, friendly, gorgeous and so down to earth. A breath of fresh air really. Since then I have been following you closely and thoroughly enjoying her blog and social media.
Lets get to know Kathryn Rossiter:
What does healthy mean to you?
Being healthy is having your body in balance with regards to your diet, weight, exercise… Extremes of anything is unhealthy
What is your chosen form of exercise?
I do admit that I’m not the best when it comes to exercise… I wish I were better, but I’ve struggled to find something that I enjoy and that fits my lifestyle. I want exercise to be fun… So far I’ve found I enjoy gym classes like body conditioning or Zumba to be ones I enjoy. I also love Pilates/ yoga and have recently been a bit better at getting to these classes. I hate running 😉
What does your way of healthy eating look like?
Again balance is key. This past month I’ve gone on my first ever diet…. Although I’m loathe to call it that! I’ve cut out sugar, carbs and alcohol during the week and I’ve started juicing. I even did a three day juice detox and I feel I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been! I’m hoping to maintain this new healthy way of eating as a lifestyle change…. Much better than fad diets!
What is your passion project?
My blog, Becoming you! I started it 4 & a half years ago as a hobby and it’s been my passion ever since!
What does a typical day look like for you?
I wake about 6:30, pack lunch boxes for the kids, shuffle them along until they are ready to leave the house, get showered and dressed myself, drop my daughter at school, go to work from 8 – 2 where I write, blog, social media up a storm for a travel company, leave work, fetch daughter, go home for a hour or via the shops, check in on a few emails for my blog, fetch son, go home again, homework with son, plan supper (my husband usually cooks!), do some supper prep alongside husband or head out to a blog event once he gets home, have supper, read story, put kids to bed, chat to husband, watch a series with him or try to write a blog post or two depending on my tiredness levels…. Otherwise I play catch up on the weekend. Whew no wonder I’m tired!
What would you like people to know about you?
I won the general knowledge cup in std 5 😉 haha. Also, what you see is obviously a highlights reel (as with all social media really!) Yes it may look like I’m living my best life, and for the most part I am, but there are things that I don’t talk about on my blog. We are a pretty normal family that experience up and downs just like any other so don’t go getting any idea that we are perfect!! From the start I’ve tried to bring across a personal aspect to my posts without revealing too much about my family especially my kids. In the very beginning my husband was against me sharing any pics of him or the kids but over time I’ve snuck a few in! Essentially I keep quite a lot private due to his wishes and possibly those of my future teenage kids too! Another thing I should add is that Becoming you – the blog – has also led to exactly that within my own life. Having this blog has exposed some pretty uncomfortable things about myself that were lying dormant and made me realise that the process of Becoming me is continual and a really important one at that. My blog has actively impacted on my life in many ways including exposing and maturing certain personality quirks and flaws that I’ve had to work on! It’s not always pretty but it’s been so worth it.
What would you like people to know about your work/business?
That writing is actually work and deserves to be paid…. And not with free product, experiences or “exposure” I need to earn real hard cash to pay my bills!
Favourite workout song?
Anything I can dance to!
Favourite exercise and why?
Pilates & yoga…. Not only is it good for my physically but emotionally and mentally too!
The advice I’ve recently taken to heart the most is that from Sheryl Sandbergs book Lean In. Inspirational.
