I thought I would flash it back to October and the amazing Mr Price Sport Blog Olympics. I totally miss it!
So, here is my #FBF to the Mr Price Sport BlogO14:
From arriving at the Suncoast Towers, to the cutest cocktail maker I ever saw, to the beautiful room we would be staying in, to the cocktail party that night, everything was perfect! I mean, the thought and planning that went into this event must have been months and months in the making. You felt like an utter celeb when you arrived there and they knew your name and just how to make you feel special! (Especially when you had a back spasm and had just been tortured by the chiro to make it possible for you to just be there and compete)
I was SO excited for the cocktail party because not only would we be meeting everyone from Mr Price Sport, Suncoast and Paton Tupper, but I would be meeting some twitter friends that I had been speaking to for aaaaaaaages! WIN WIN!
The cocktail party was a great way for everyone to meet, chat and catch up, and many a selfie was taken! There is even a photo of me with my Belle’s Patisserie cupcake. Now, this red velvet cupcake was brought all the way from Joburg by Tanya Kovarsky as I
begged asked her so so nicely. It was delicious as always and I enjoyed that bad boy in bed, by myself, after the party. I may have documented the occasion. (All my friends know how obsessed I am with it because I tell them every time I have it in Joburg!)
So I went to bed smiling after that awesome night, and the cupcake… I woke up super nervous! I don’t know if it is because Durban had finished last the year before and there was a large amount of pressure on us to win this year or because being the more active one there was more pressure on me, or if it is because I like competition! Probably all of that!
Once again we were treated as royalty, and had breakfast at the hotel. Our competition outfits were then collected from us and we were promised we would see them there safely. I was skeptical and nervous and really didn’t want to be walking around half naked, but I went with it…
We were then picked up in the most amazing Mercedes cars I have ever seen! Mercedes Umhlanga had VERY kindly sponsored all of these cars to drive us to Moses Mabhida! We got to drive around to the beach front first, and being as nervous as I was I let Gords drive the whole way while Tash and I relaxed in the back like fancy ladies should!
At the stadium we were lead into the player’s changerooms. Yes, THOSE changerooms. Now I know why they took our gear, it was all packed into amazing Mr Price Sport kit bags with our name tags on them and a whole lot of sponsored gear and goodies. BLOWN AWAY. It was such an awesome surprise! SO all the girls got dressed and we headed out through the tunnel. Yes, that tunnel. We then met all the Mr Price staff and helpers and heard all about what we would be up to for the day. Sliiiiightly intimidating being on that famous field and seeing how huge the stadium really is!
We were so sad to have let Durban down, but we definitely showed heart and cheer! A huge thank you again to Mr Price Sport and Paton Tupper for the chance of a lifetime. Best event ever!
