Getting to know… Sureshnie Rider

I got to know the lovely Sureshnie thanks to my online store It’s a Bling Thing and I’m SO glad I did. Not only is she a supportive soul but she is so down to earth and passionate about her charity, Blow the Whistle. I decided to partner with Blow the Whistle for my charity bootcamps and this probably wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t gotten to know her!

Let’s get to know Sureshnie Rider:

What does healthy mean to you?
Healthy Means that I’m making smart choices for my body but at the same time spoiling it once in a while with a few treats. If I deny myself personally, I find that I lose my balance and then will eat alot more comfort foods. I try to keep a good emotional balance as well, as I know that It does affect my eating if I am stressed etc.

What is your chosen form of exercise?
I’m not a Regimented exercise person, I run after my toddler and I seem to burn more calories that way:) I do love to dance with her, and I’m very busy generally in the garden. I love taking long walks.

What does your way of healthy eating look like?
I always start my morning with a tall glass of cooled Boiled water with lotsa lemon. A grape fruit, Weetbix, Chicken and Broccoli for lunch, and then a salad for dinner or a light meal. AT the moment we are trying to avoid Carbs, to start a more healthy approach to meals.
What is your passion project?
Blow the Whistle is my Passion Project. It’s a project I Co founded alongside legacy Lifestyle. It is our little effort in trying to make a difference in South Africa. WE would like to fight crime and try to empower citizens to band together, to become more aware and own their voices. We are currently selling whistles, and we have an amazing safety app, that we are encouraging people to download. All proceeds go towards the establishment of a Safety House where Victims can receive trauma counselling, support and help.

What does a typical day look like for you?
My Days are never the same, and I quite enjoy that. I have a 6am start, make lunches for the family, school drop off at 8am, in studio at 8:45, on air from 9 till 3pm. Voice over at 4pm, Home by 5:30, Cook Dinner, Bath, Bedtime, and then off to a late night work gig. Home by 11:30PM and often it’s a repeat.

What do you want people to know about you?
I’m playful, jovial and fun, and I’ll always want to worry and care for anyone in need. I love feeding my friends when they visit, I’m extremely childlike in my mannerisms. I”m a firm believer in nourishing imagination and promoting Carefree behaviour. I talk to toys!

What would you like people to know about your work/business?
Other than being on 5fm, I’m the Channel voice for Zee world, I co run a beautiuflul little company called BobbleheadSA and we design and create Bobbleheads in the shape and form of South African Celebrities and Sports Figures.

Favourite workout song?
At the moment I’m Loving Jason Derulo’s Want to Want me, but i’m an absolute Pop Head, so anything really…ooooh Bad Blood by Taylor Swift is sooo sexxxxy

Favourite exercise and why?
I love Yoga, and It’s something I”m slowly getting into, I love the quiet that goes with the regime. while I excersise I also give my mind that quiet it craves. I tend to get alot of my thinking done during a Yoga session.
